Drawing on my personal journey through an unconventional childhood, community activism, public service and corporate leadership, I am known as a fearless facilitator whose passion and integrity you can trust to ignite and guide you to career or campaign defining impact.
Born under the bright lights of an Australian circus, with an elephant named Abu as my unlikely guardian, my earliest memories were steeped in the magic of the nomadic life. With no fixed sense of place, my early childhood was an unconventional prelude to a destiny defined by bold risks and a relentless pursuit of authenticity. Growing up in the 1980s in Edinburgh as an only child under the care of my mum, I learned firsthand the precarious balance between power and vulnerability. A single visit from a social worker taught me a crucial lesson early on: trust in authority must always be earned.
At just 16, I stepped into the real world by working in a nursing home caring for those with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia. In a moment of courage, I challenged the established norms, speaking out against the harm inflicted on some of the most vulnerable. This early confrontation with injustice sowed the seeds of a lifelong passion and fuelled my drive to fight for dignity, equity, and the value of every human story.
Embracing my formative experiences, I immersed myself in the intricacies of community work, exploring how disparate individuals and groups interconnect to form the tapestry of society. In the gritty corridors of Edinburgh’s drug rehabilitation units and homeless shelters, I encountered life in its rawest form. Whether meticulously checking toothpaste for hidden drugs or offering a compassionate ear to those rendered invisible by circumstance, each personal connection reinforced my belief that the power of human relationships can transform even the bleakest moments into opportunities for renewal.
From the Middle East, Africa to India, I have immersed myself in diverse cultures and perspectives engaging with women fighting for their rights, navigating the intricacies of international diplomacy, and even presenting transformative policy insights to government leaders. These experiences not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my resolve to bridge divides and foster resilient, inclusive communities.
I have previously been called upon by the Ministry of Defence to prepare Ambassadors, Defence Attachés, and their families for deployment. Operating in a realm where discretion and security are paramount, I balanced strategic readiness with compassionate support, always with the highest regard for confidentiality and operational integrity, facets of my practice that I hold dear today.
In the corporate and public sector worlds, I have defied conventional wisdom by boldly steering some of the world’s largest material and life sciences companies and complex public sector organisations through high-risk scenarios and transformational change, reviving failing national programmes worth billions of pounds and reimagining innovation and efficiency.
I not only understand the complexities of power, culture, and creativity but have lived them earning a reputation for the skill and tact with which I “call it out” and help you and your people to face uncomfortable issues head-on.
I hold an MSc Certificate in Policy & Healthcare Management, a British Psychological Society Certificate in Neuroscience and undertake monthly psychology and behaviour change continuous professional development through The Psych Lab, led by Serena Simmons, BPS Chartered Psychologist and encompassing monthly development based on empirical research and evidence and group coaching.
I am a Mirror Mirror™ mirrormirroralignment.com/ network practitioner and a black belt in psychological safety, certified Fearless Organization Scan (FOS) The Fearless Organization certified practitioner and have used this tool with clients and trained others to use it within their organisations to enable extraordinary collaboration, innovation and performance at a team and organisation level.
I am not a qualified psychologist but have a wide network of services I sign post to, should facilitation indicate a clinical or professional need beyond my proficiency.
